Fluid Dock Badges for Tumblr Dashboard!
I use an awesome OS X app called Fluid that let’s me make site-specific browsers for web applications that I use all the time.  It lets me have separate applications for Gmail, Google Calendar, Campfire, etc.
I also use one for the Tumblr Dashboard so I can do all my blogging (and reading) from within an “application” and not from a browser tab.
A great way to procrastinate throughout the day is to check the Dashboard and see if anyone that I’m following has posted anything new (e.g. “There are 4 new posts.” Yay!).
Fluid supports something called Dock Badges: cool little red circles that shows up on your dock icons, usually telling you how many new/unread messages you have.  It’s awesome for things like Gmail, Campfire, Google Reader, and the Facebook Inbox so you can see at a glance if anything is new.
I’ve been wanting one of these for my Tumblr Dashboard for a long time, and I finally got around to making one.  It’s hosted at http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/31504.  To install, you have to be running a Fluid instance for Tumblr (see Todd’s excellent screencasts for more details).  Under the script menu, click ‘browse userscripts.org’, search for ‘tumblr fluid’ and then click ‘Install this Script.’
Enjoy!
