What’s Up at the New York Times?
About a month ago, I got an email to my gmail address thanking me for purchasing the New York Times print. But I didn’t. It was another Benjamin Stein who must’ve mistyped his email. That mistake granted me full access to his account, including all NY Times digital content.
Arin said we couldn’t keep the digital account, since that would be stealing (she’s right).
So I emailed NY Times and explained the situation. They said they would fix it and give the other Benjamin Stein his access back.
Instead of fixing the problem, a few days later I get another email to a different one of my email addresses thanking me for purchasing the New York Times print!
So now I have TWO online subscriptions.
Finally today I got two emails (one to each) saying “Sorry to see you go” and alerting me that because I cancelled my print subscription, my digital access was being revoked.
Oh well, I said. Fun while it lasted.
But then a few minutes ago I get this: “That last e-mail was sent by us in error. Please disregard the message.”
Subscriptions reinstated.
Wow, this is a boring blog post.

Weird. Today I also got an email from the NY Times saying they were sad to see that I had cancelled my print subscription, which in actuality never existed.
