– My cousin Sherman’s Facebook profile.   He friended me this morning.  At first I laughed a whole lot:  Cousin Sherman is on Facebook‽ What’s next? But it turns out he’s been active on Facebook since last April.  He just hadn’t bothered to friend me until now :(

Of all the studies comparing the TCO of a Mac vs a PC, none factor in how hard it is to clean a shattered jar of salsa out of a Dell.

Let the bears pay the bear tax. I pay the Homer...
Homer: Well, there's not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol is sure doing its job.
Lisa: That's specious reasoning, Dad.
Homer: Thank you, sweetie.
Lisa: Dad, what if I were to tell you that this rock keeps away tigers.
Homer: Uh-huh, and how does it work?
Lisa: It doesn't work. It's just a stupid rock.
Homer: I see.
Lisa: But you don't see any tigers around, do you?
Homer: Lisa, I'd like to buy your rock.

I've been thinking about making an iPhone app called Rock that keeps tigers away. Would you pay $0.99 for it?

A Cure for Canker
I’ve gotten canker sores since as long as I can remember.  They are incredibly painful and such a nuisance. About 6 months ago, based on a recommendation from some random person on the Internets, I switched to using a sodium-laurel-sulfate-free toothpaste.  SLS is the chemical in toothpaste that makes it foam and gives you that fresh, clean mouth feeling.  I have to say, I do miss that...

Results from the iPhone's new rate-on-delete...
marco: The new rate-on-delete popup in iPhone OS 2.2 has already destroyed the average for Instapaper Free. Before 2.2, it was a solid 4.5-star average (the same as Instapaper Pro). Since then, very few written reviews in the App Store have been added (about 10 of the 180 total in the U.S. store). And if you look at the written reviews (sort by Most Recent), they’re overwhelmingly positive,...

therealfirstworldproblems: We keep a corporate [company name redacted] Tumblog.  We recently started pulling in the posts to display prominently on our company home page. An Egg With No Shell!
One of our chickens laid an egg without a shell this morning!  It’s really freaking weird.  It holds its egg shape, but it’s really soft and see-through.  I’ll post a picture later. I googled a bit and it’s probably one of two things: a lack of calcium (doubtful since all the other chickens are laying OK) or shock.  Evidently getting scared (e.g. thunder, crazy beagle...
